For Young People

Hello and welcome!

Based at Craigroyston Community High School, MYDG is here for you.

We know that growing up in Muirhouse can be hard so we provide support in different ways:

  • Opportunities to get involved in a range of sports

  • Creative activities that you can lose yourself in

  • Separate boys and girls groups

  • Trips and outdoor education

  • Qualifications, traineeships and volunteering

  • Support with life transitions

  • MYDG’s base is a ‘safe space’ you can visit throughout the school day

  • If you’re struggling with something difficult we can walk alongside you

Weekly Programme

Our weekly programme includes swimming, football, basketball, sports for girls, separate boys and girls friendship groups, creative activities (jewellery making is new), under-12s groups and more.

Young Voices

We’re keen that you help us shape our programmes by telling us the things you enjoy and what else you’d like us to provide. We want to create a group of young people who help us with this regularly. And we’d like to give the group a chance to do some social media take-overs for MYDG. If you think you might want to get involved, come and speak to us in the MYDG base.

"MYDG provided me a space to be young, feel normal, make friends, even when my world was caving in. MYDG is a place of laughter, always knowing that leaving was with a smile."

MYDG’s legal rules of operation mean that young people who take part regularly in our activities are “members”. This means you have a voice and can vote at our AGM held in early July if you’re 16+. So get involved. It’s good experience to add to your CV and personal statement when applying for college or work.

Youth Work Trainees

We have opportunities for youth work trainees which often lead to sessional staff roles.

“For my 9 week placement at MYDG as a youth worker trainee I had such a positive experience! I have gotten to know the young people well and heard about how much love they have for coming along to MYDG. I also really enjoyed getting to work with the staff team with all of them making me feel so welcomed at MYDG.”
