YOUTH WORK GAMES
What is Youth Work Games?
Youth Work Games was started by Muirhouse Youth Development Group in 2012 in line with the Olympics games. The idea was to give young people an experience they have never had before. The aim of the event is for young people attending to build confidence, independence, problem solving, learn to work as part of a team and develop new relationships. Youth Work Games gives young people time away from their phones and their usual routine and it encourages active participation with a variety of events happening. YWG provides opportunities to build relationships with other young people who they might not have engaged with on a normal day to day basis and learn about other local services they could be accessing. Majority of young people attending youth work games may not have experienced the activities or camping in a tent. For some it may be their first time away from home. By taking part in this they are developing resilience and learning how to cope being away from home. Whilst developing and maintaining positive peer relationships.
