MYDG are looking for a passionate & committed Youth Worker to join the staff team.  We are looking for people who can step into situations, take a lead in youth work sessions & engage positively with young people

JOB TITLE:               Youth Worker (sessional)

REPORTS TO:          Dean Shanks (Manager)

LOCATION:               Muirhouse Youth Development Group (North Edinburgh)

HOURS:                     Variable (as and when needed; MYDG are not obliged to provide work and the worker is not obliged to take the work offered)

SALARY:                   £8.80 per hour (plus holiday pay)

JOB PURPOSE

The post holder will be expected to work in a team setting providing various activities for young people and to build relationships with young people attending our youth clubs.

MAIN DUTIES

  • To engage with young people aged 8-18
  • To work in various settings such as community high school, arts centre and local area on outreach work
  • To offer sports, arts, cooking & issue based activities
  • To be available at times that the young people have identified such as evenings and weekends

 

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA FOR THIS JOB

 

  • Good timekeeping & organised
  • Well presented & ready for work
  • Friendly & approachable
  • Enthusiastic about working with young people & a “can-do” attitude
  • Commitment to own personal development through full participation in training & support and supervision provided by your line manager
  • Reasonable level of fitness and in good health (due to physical nature of job)
  • Ability to follow instructions and comply with systems or recording
  • Ability to work on own initiative

 

  • PVG/Enhanced Disclosure check required

 

DESIRABLE SKILLS/ QUALITIES

 

  • NPLQ trained (lifeguarding)
  • Minibus / Driving license
